The Board of the Oxford Academic Health Partners, chaired by Professor Sir John Bell, meets today. A key item for this meeting and for the next series of meetings, will be the oversight of the development and submission of the bids for the renewal of the OAHP’s two Biomedical Research Centres. The Oxford Health BRC is a partnership between Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Oxford and the OUH BRC is a partnership between the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Oxford. Oxford Brookes University is an increasing active partner in both BRCs.
The formal process for renewal by NIHR starts in April 2021 and work is well underway for the submission of PPQs in June 2021. The process provides the opportunity for the assessment of current themes and ways in which these can be enhanced and developed, particularly in mental health, social care, public health, community and patient-led care and digital health. The development of academic and research leaders within themes is also a focus ensuring that leadership remains a focus across the partnership.
Also important to the OAHP is the focus on research, innovations and developments that can reach across the Region and wider, ensuring that the skills, knowledge and expertise from the Partners is shared for the greatest impact on the greatest number of patients, their families and carers.
