OAHP Charity Awards

The Oxford Academic Health Partners Charity has made a series of awards to staff and students across the partner organisations for the first time.  A total of just under £32,000 has been made available to 59 staff from Oxford Brookes, Oxford Health, Oxford University Hospitals and the University of Oxford.

The Board of the Charity, which is chaired by Professor Sir John Bell, accepted the recommendations of a Panel of staff from across the partners which considered the applications.

Professor Keith Channon, Director of the Oxford Academic Health Partners, said the awards would benefit patients and staff in a variety of settings and, he hoped, would bring the work of the OAHP to a wider audience.

Board and Panel member, Professor Paul Carding from the Oxford Institute for Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Research said: “It was great to see such a broad range of applications – the panel unanimously agreed that they were all worthy of support.”

Applications came from a wide cross-section of staff. They included managers and clinicians in nursing, psychology, medicine, physiotherapy, radiography and biomedical science. They covered online courses, virtual conferences, supporting patient involvement, fact-finding visits, attending events abroad (Covid-permitting) and a team education and training away day.

All the award winners will be asked to provide a report on their activities – these will be used to demonstrate the impact of the first round of awards. It is hoped to be able to repeat the awards process in future years.
